Fish

Largemouth Bass $0.60/ea.

This bass is well suited for our temperatures here in the Midwest. They can be found in and around brush and/or tree piles and in 3-4" weed beds. Reproduces and grows well in ponds and lakes Feeds on bluegill (or sunfish), fathead minnows, crayfish, frogs and large insects. Provides excellent sport fishing opportunities. Spawning occurs in 2-4 feet of water at water temperatures close to 60°F

Redear Sunfish$ 0.55/ea
Very similar to the bluegill. Found around structures where it feeds mostly on mollusks and insect larvae. It is a fast grower and is hard fighting. Differentiated from bluegill by their red dot on the gill covering. Not likely to over-populate since they do not reproduce as readily as the bluegill. Spawning begins in late spring and may continue until summer.

Channel Catfish $0.60/ea
Most commonly found around the bottom of the lake or pond, near clean gravel or boulders. They are considered scavengers, as they will eat just about anything. Do not normally reprodace in ponds due to the lack of adequate spawning structures. Provides excellent sport fishing because of its size, fighting ability and taste.

Fathead Minnows $0.05/ea
$45.00/1000
Small in size and is an excellent forage fish for predator fish. They are very tolerant to muddy waters and a wide range of pH levels. Reproduction is abundant and can be aided by using sunken evergreen trees or stacked pallets. Spawning occurs throughout spring and summer. These fish feed primarily on zooplankton.
Restock annually.

Recommended stocking rates for a 1 acre pond:
